If I buy the classic version, will it be restricted by region, and do I need to use a VPN? This is very important to me, and I really want to play ColdHack

Not MAC address but generally you will be assigned a hardware identifier on your first use. License is then bound to that HWID. There is a fixed monthly quota of free HWID resets to account for hardware/software upgrades.

China has very strict censorship but if you can reach this site without VPN then you can use Cold Team without VPN as well.
